Pasadenans Organizing for Progress

Florence Adjoa Annang (Adjoa)

“Our initiative will bring culturally sensitive organizers into our city, with deep understanding of community needs. Together, we’ll reshape local and state policies, challenge biases and transform mindsets.”

Pasadenans Organizing for Progress (POP!) is a community-driven organization reshaping Pasadena's societal structures around policing, immigration, housing, voting, workers’ rights, and climate justice. By fostering people power through robust community organizing, leadership development, and movement building, POP! aspires to build a more just, fair, and inclusive city, setting a benchmark for multi-system change throughout LA County.

Florence is the founder and Director of Thrive Learning Lab NW Pasadena, an After School and Summer Camp Programs located in NW Pasadena. With a deep-seated passion for the community, Florence invests time in fostering relationships to ensure the creation of inclusive spaces for everyone. Through forming coalitions with many organizations within the community, Florence is an alumni of The Los Angeles Women's Public Policy Institute (LAAAWPPI) and holds several key positions including an executive member of the NAACP Pasadena branch, lead organizer on the board of Pasadena’s Organizing for Progress, a member of the Los Angeles Metro Public Safety Advisory Committee, and currently serves as a commissioner on Pasadena's Police Oversight Commission.
