Brittany King-Pleas (she/her)

“Far too often, policies are made by individuals who are disconnected from the realities of homelessness and the systemic barriers that Black and Brown communities face. I want to be in rooms where real decisions are happening and ensure that racial equity, lived experience, and trauma-informed care aren’t just buzzwords but actual guiding principles in how we operate.

I’ve spent my career balancing the operational side of homeless services with the human side—supporting staff, creating equitable processes, and advocating for clients. But I know that real change happens at the top, and I want to be in a position to influence hiring practices, program funding, and service delivery in a way that truly centers racial and social justice. Leadership, to me, is about shifting not just policies, but cultures, and I’m committed to building workplaces and service models that empower both staff and clients.”
