I loved being in active discussion with other people about the projects. I met some unbelievable people and learned a lot from them about different perspectives. People had fairly strong feelings about certain grants due to a lived perspective that I never had.

This was such a great workshop. I am so grateful to you all for doing this for Care Coordinators, homeless workers, who are on the frontlines actually doing the work and dealing with crisis head on. It takes so much out of us and sometimes we don't even understand what our body and mind is going through after we have taken in the crisis on our hearts and our minds.

Prioritizing my mental health and understanding the importance of personal and professional boundaries... I can't perform to the best of my ability if I'm not taking care of me first.

I've made connections that I wasn't expecting, and now I have people that are my people. There's not enough space for us that is curated by us to create more of us. And this fellowship is that.

I literally had my supervision with my boss yesterday and we're talking about changing my title, which of course comes with a pay raise. I don't think I would have ever advocated for myself without the tools that I built from this fellowship. I was able to talk about pay bands, the equity of the work and how it's not aligned with the pay scale. I attribute my confidence to this fellowship.

It's changed my perspective on not only the homelessness sector, but also just leadership and that you are able to do what you think you can't and people told you you couldn't, but you can do it. And this really gave me the motivation to keep pushing forward.

Take the leap of faith that you're going to be supported. You are going to be challenged. You are going to be invigorated in the space and your true authentic self is allowed to thrive here. Take advantage of the opportunities for the happy hours afterwards. I feel like that's another space where the work happens and it's a different vibe and it's important.

I love the fact that we use Discord to stay in touch with each other and sometimes staying in touch is just offering a kind word or saying 'I'm here for you.' There have been times where people post that their organization is hiring or someone is having a difficult time pushing work forward, and others jump in to help. I love that because sometimes this work can be isolating.

This program offered me the ability to further develop my initiative in a caring, safe, and affirming community. It reignited my passion for community, social justice, and equity!

I go back frequently to the fact that any of this work is science fiction - like when we're creating a new world, it like has never existed before, we have to make it up... I need partners, I need co-collaborators and co-creators in that world.

We are just reeling from the onslaught of chaos and just looking for community and of course SJPLA is one of the first I always think of.
Avriel Epps
" I'm a little bit of a fellowship junkie and this one has just been really cool, a really supportive community. Everyone who shows up is willing to be generous and give.
And the final product that we're all going to get to experience is a one-of-a-kind experience. I've never done something like this. So it feels really special. "
Peter Watts
"This truly helps me in my elevator pitch. So, when I'm casually having conversations at dinner, I casually meet someone, I'm always going to have my story of us pitch in the back of my mind so I can it slip in."
Davina Cooper
As a new manager, I feel more confident in my ability to lead within my team.

Feeling really grateful for the space [in Liberatory Workplaces] to do this thinking & reflection together. That feels like the thing we are missing most - space & time to reflect & imagine.

The Wellbeing Grant served as a major starting point for internal dialogue amongst the organizational leadership on the importance of workforce wellbeing.

As a team, we're feeling less heavy. With this grant, we invested in time for us to take a break from strategic planning and rest!

I believe in community. And the cohort became a community for me, and I believe that the cohort you'd venture into would hopefully do the same for you.
