The Collective for Liberatory Lawyering

Ashleigh K. Washington (she and they), Co-Founder

“We build power with Black and Brown families for transformative education conditions and police-free schools in LA. Join us in our movement for racially just education and dignity for all students and parents.”

"I experienced exclusionary discipline in elementary school without anyone ever sending me to a counselor or investigating my needs, repeatedly showing that I did not belong, and was eventually arrested at age 14. I represented students and parents in school push-out proceedings and continued to see with them that a focus on criminalization in schools denies a student full access to their education.”

The Collective for Liberatory Lawyering works with organizers and impacted families to co-design investigations of school conditions using criminalization data and student/parent experiences to fight for police-free schools in LA.

Meet Ashleigh at Fast Pitch on March 30th.
