Tia Dickson

Tia Dickson (she/her)

“It’s important to me that those I work alongside can see that outside of my role as a leader, I am a human being that is committed to seeing that other human beings are afforded or exposed to some of the same opportunities that I have been able to take advantage of. The product of a single parent, it was always engrained in me that failure was not an option and regardless of where you come from you are just as qualified as the next person.”

A native of Baltimore, Tia Dickson currently serves as Associate Director for ICMS, PSH and Supportive Services at HOPICS. With over 22 years’ experience in child welfare and human services, her focus and training on trauma informed care, harm reduction and housing first has fueled her passion to help those in need and address the housing crisis one person at a time.

Prior to her role at HOPICS, she was Director of Housing Navigation at LA Family Housing. Prior to LAFH and before relocating to Los Angeles in 2018, Tia served as Homeless Outreach Coordinator for the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Interagency Commission on Homelessness in Rockville, Maryland. Before her role with Montgomery County, Tia worked for 10 years at Catholic Charities of Baltimore, holding various positions within the Child & Family Services and Community Services Division, respectively.

Tia’s commitment to people has led in the upward trajectory of her career path much differently than she could have imagined. She is a proud member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. She holds a B.S. in Criminal Justice from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore and a dual M.S. in Human Services Administration from the University of Baltimore and Coppin State University.
