Michaella Huck thrives at the intersection of storytelling and social impact, where she believes creativity can be a powerful tool for change.

She began her career in journalism with a dream of telling untold stories. She believes social change requires not only documenting what is happening, but collective imagination to make social issues more accessible and impossible to ignore. For the last five years, her work has woven together digital strategy to bring that belief to life.

Before joining SJPLA as Communications Lead, Michaella served as Fundraising & Communications Manager at Project Return Peer Support Network, amplifying Los Angeles County’s peer-led mental health movement.

Michaella holds an MPA in nonprofit management and a B.A. in Broadcast Journalism with a minor in Africana Studies. She is also a Registered Yoga Teacher and founder of Fresh Slate LA, a San Fernando Valley wellness initiative creating healing centered experiences through movement, nature, and creativity.

When she isn’t writing, designing, or dreaming up her next community gathering, Michaella can usually be found outdoors, skating by the beach, or convincing herself that the DIY project she discovered on TikTok absolutely needs to be added to her list.
