EJI’s Legacy Museum Learning Tour

On December 16-17, 2019, just four months after the SVP Global Learning Tour to Montgomery, Alabama, some of the SJP Los Angeles team embarked on yet another journey to EJI Museum, “From Enslavement to Mass Incarceration” and the National Memorial for Peace and Justice.

Now on our third pilgrimage, we supported The Hilton Foundation’s Diversity, Equity + Inclusion team as they deepened their understanding of the history of racism and how it has an impact on funding in the nonprofit and philanthropic sector.

As the SVPLA Team commits to Systems Change work through our programs in LA County, our intention is to continue holding space for dialogue and learning that seeks to uncover the truths of racial terror inflicted upon Black people in the United States.

We believe that taking an honest look at our past offers a better understanding of how systems continue to perpetuate injustices that have a direct impact on people who experience marginalization in our local communities.
