Justice-centered organizations embody community-driven values.

Traditional charity frameworks are rooted in white savior models that perpetuate the problems themselves.

Charity to Justice is built for Executive Directors who are taking their organizations through a major shift to justice-centered values. Participants will identify the elements of your organization that serve their community and dig deeper to grow something different in its place.

We support participants in aligning your organization's values by:

  • Uprooting the places where white supremacy culture lives in yourself and your organization.

  • Listening to community and making amends.

  • Laying a healthy new foundation that aligns the organization’s values from the inside out.

  • Planting new seeds with programs that center community voice and justice frameworks.

  • Nurture the new and sustain the work.

How it works

This is a participatory course where you will be expected to interact with other participants and the facilitator. When at all possible, please have your cameras on and be available to answer questions and join in the conversation.

  • Work with a small cohort of Executive Directors (course size limited to 15 participants) in intensive 1.5-hour sessions over Zoom.

  • Meetings will take place monthly over six months.

  • Access to up to two 1:1 coaching sessions with facilitator Christine Margiotta.

  • $2,000 - All proceeds go towards SJPLA’s work to advance racial and social justice in Los Angeles. If pricing is a barrier, please reach out.
