Fideicomiso Comunitario Tierra Libre

Vanessa Gonzalez (she/her)

“Growing up in East Los Angeles, I experienced housing instability and other common issues in low-income communities, such as indecent overcrowded housing. These experiences of housing instability have ignited a deep passion within me to make a difference, bring about positive change, and be immersed in the community land trust model.”

Fideicomiso Comunitario Tierra Libre (FCTL) is a progressive organization committed to dismantling historic racial and economic disparities that have fuelled the housing crisis. By promoting equitable access to land, housing, and community development, FCTL strives to reshape the landscape of LA County, transitioning housing from the speculative market to a realm of affordable, quality living spaces for all residents.

Vanessa is a dedicated advocate for housing justice. Having been born and raised in a low-income neighborhood in Los Angeles (Togva Land), she has personal experience with housing insecurity. This led her to the field of community land trusts. Before her current role as co-director of Fideicomiso Comunitario Tierra Libre, Vanessa served on the organization's board of directors.
