Community Power Collective

Carmina Calderon

Carmina Calderón (she/her/hers), Senior Organizer

“Our initiative will build power with tenants and transit riders to build a movement to change policies in LA to ensure equitable community planning and that our communities are able to remain and thrive.”

“I’m the third of four children of an immigrant, working-class single mother. My upbringing involved a lot of housing insecurity and we moved all over LA County in search of an affordable place to live. As an organizer, I work with tenants who are now struggling through our most current housing crisis. My hope is to organize and build power for true community change with families similar to mine."

Community Power Collective builds tenant-led movements to pass policies in Los Angeles that ensure equitable community planning and remove land and housing from the speculative market.
